 What is HomeShare?
For the homeowner, HomeShare
could mean no longer living alone; feeling safe with another person in
your home; help with household chores; help paying your mortgage or
property taxes.
For the home seeker, HomeShare could mean safe, decent, affordable housing; companionship and security of living with another person; reduced rents.
HomeShare helps match homeowners
with people looking for a place to live. Our staff introduces
individuals that are found to be compatible, helps them to develop a
home sharing agreement, and offers follow-up counsel if a match is
made.
All applicants on both sides are screened and interviewed by the
program staff. The applicants are required to provide three character
references and complete a background check.
We do require administrative fees for both applicants.
We match very carefully for mutual benefit and compatibility. If a HomeShare arrangement is not appropriate, staff will counsel applicants and/or refer them to other appropriate housing services.
